چکیده

Two relativistic X-ray jets have been detected with the Chandra X-ray observatory from the black hole X-ray transient XTE J1550-564. We report a full analysis of the evolution of the two jets with a gamma-ray burst external shock model. A plausible scenario suggests a cavity outside the central source and the jets first travelled with constant velocity and then are slowed down by the interactions between the jets and the interstellar medium (ISM). The best fitted radius of the cavity is ∼0.36 pc on the eastern side and ∼0.46 pc on the western side, and the densities also show asymmetry, of ∼0.015 cm on the east to ∼0.21 cm on the west. A large scale low density region is also found in another microquasar system, H 1743-322. These results are consistent with previous suggestions that the environment of microquasars should be rather vacuous, compared to the normal Galactic environment. A generic scenario for microquasar jets is proposed, classifying the observed jets into three main categories, with different jet morphologies (and sizes) corresponding to different scales of vacuous environments surrounding them.

Microquasars: disk–jet coupling in stellar-mass black holes

Microquasars provide new insights into: 1) the physics of relativistic jets from black holes, 2) the connection between accretion and ejection, and 3) the physical mechanisms in the formation of stellar-mass black holes. Furthermore, the studies of microquasars in our Galaxy can provide in the future new insights on: 1) a large fraction of the ultraluminous X-ray sources in nearby galaxies, 2) ...

Theoretical aspects of microquasars

Microquasars (black hole X-ray binaries with relativistic jets) are first found by means of multiwavelengths observations with ground-based telescopes. Microquasars mimic, on a much smaller scale, many of their phenomena seen in quasars. The study about microquasars opens the door for better understanding of the relativistic jets elsewhere in the Universe, and may serve to determine the distanc...

Radio Lobe Dynamics and the Environment of Microquasars

We argue that, when compared to AGNs in dynamical terms, microquasars are found in low density, low pressure environments. Using a simple analytic model, we discuss radio lobe dynamics and emission. Dynamical considerations for GRS 1915+105 and GRO J1655−40 show that they are located in ISM densities well below the canonical nISM ∼ 1 cm −3 unless the jets are unusually narrow or much more power...

Sources of Relativistic Jets in the Galaxy

Black holes of stellar mass and neutron stars in binary systems are first detected as hard X-ray sources using high-energy space telescopes. Relativistic jets in some of these compact sources are found by means of multiwavelength observations with ground-based telescopes. The X-ray emission probes the inner accretion disk and immediate surroundings of the compact object, whereas the synchrotron...
